Session A | September 14-October 12

How to Study the Bible, 4-week co-ed study, taught by Lyla Curtis and Brian Lynn.

Have you ever opened your Bible and wondered, “Where do I start?” Maybe you’ve read your Bible and puzzled, “What does this mean? I can’t make sense of it.” Or, perhaps you long for a more meaningful connection with the Word of God than just a verse-of-the-day from the Bible app. Maybe you already love reading the Bible, but you want to go deeper in your relationship with God and your understanding of His Word. If any of these are true for you, then we have the solution! Join us for this 4-week class on How to Study the Bible. You will learn a simple process that will help you know God better, experience correct methods of interpreting the Bible, and explore powerful ways to apply the truths of God’s Word to your life.

Escaping the Matrix: Learning God’s Wisdom for the Digital World, 5-week co-ed study, taught by Pastor Bill Curtis and various staff members.

We can all agree that there are many positives and negatives that come with the digital world. We enjoy and use our devices for important tasks and convenient access to needed information. Yet, we understand the corresponding dangers that accompany it. But, did you know that while we are enjoying the benefits of digital technologies, those same technologies are spiritually shaping our values, habits, and way of thinking? If you are interested in understanding how that is happening and how you can use God’s wisdom to navigate these dangers, this class is for you. If you are a parent with children who use devices or will use devices one day, this class is a “must”!

Suggested reading Digital Liturgies: Rediscovering Christian Wisdom in an Online Age, by Samuel D. James. You may purchase this book on Amazon.

Session B | October 19-November 16

Behold the Savior: Treasuring the Story of Christmas, 5-week co-ed study, taught by various leaders in the men’s and women’s ministries.

Behold the Savior is an invitation to slow down and refocus our hearts on Jesus this Advent season, making space to receive the greatest gift of all. This study will take a slow, verse-by-verse walk through the first two chapters of Luke. We will reflect on the significant people and events found in these chapters, while we remember and celebrate the first Advent. You’ll learn to treasure and meditate on the wonder of the Christmas story and the glorious moment when heaven came to earth through the birth of Jesus, our Savior.

This will be a co-ed study, but there are different study books for men and women. These can be purchased in The Corner Store. While our teaching time will be co-ed, our small group discussion will be gender specific.
